SQ1 in Miami: McLaren tear. Eliminate Williams, Stake and Gasly
The SQ1 of the sprint qualifications sees a leap forward in the McLaren. The updates brought by the English team seem to work perfectly, with Norris which presents more plate components. The track, as expected, is subject to great evolution, and many teams have exploited this to overcome the cut. No surprises among the top teams, even the ones are saved Haas and VCARB. It adds to them too Or with, while his partner gasly ends in P16. The two were also eliminated together with the Frenchman Stake F1, with Zhou before Bottas. Two close the ranking Williams: on P19 Sergeant and in P20 Albon, who had his last attempt canceled (but was still in sixteenth).
SQ2 still in the hands of Norris, both Mercedes out
Also in the second part of the sprint qualifications Lando Norris he places himself in front of everyone. Behind him, however, there is no Verstappen, but Perez. The Dutchman is only fourth, because he places third Charles Leclerc. The real surprise, however, is among those excluded from SQ3. Both Mercedesthey failed to make the cut despite the changes, seeing ahead of them in P10 Nico Hulkenberg. His partner Kevin Magnussen he is also eliminated in P14. Or with placed in P13 e tsunoda in P15, while his partner Daniel Ricciardo it's even in P5.
Despite everything, Verstappen goes on pole, Leclerc super and Norris disappointing
In SQ3 everyone waits for the last minutes to have maximum track efficiency. However, he always wins Max Verstappen. The Dutchman, when it matters to extrapolate the time, is always number one. Behind him, just a tenth away without having lapped this morning, there is Charles Leclerc. The Monegasque also gives 4 tenths to Sainz, and also puts the other Red Bull behind it Perez. The two McLaren, who had proven superior to the others with average, finished in sixth place Piastres and in the ninth with Norris. The Briton made a mistake in both the first and second sectors. MVP of these qualifications is without a doubt Daniel Ricciardo, which concludes in P4. The ranking is in order Carlos Sainz (P5), Stroll e Alonso in the seventh and octave respectively, and Nico Hulkenberg to close the Top 10.
