Q1, mixed conditions at Spa
After postponement of the F2 session, the track situation at Spa forced all the riders on the grid to go out on intermediate tyres, waiting for more intense rain which, however, did not arrive during the session. In the end, the track found itself in a mixed dry and wet condition, which caused an evolution of the track bringing risks for some of the top drivers after the change to the second set of intermediate tyres, such as Pérez, Norris and Sainz. The first eliminated from the Belgian GP qualifying were Hulkenberg, Magnussen, Tsunoda, Sargeant and Zhou.
Q2, Ferrari at risk
The uncertain weather conditions occurred again in Q2, with both Ferraris at risk in the final laps and Sergio Pérez managing to save himself from elimination by just 3 thousandths. Both Mercedes also took risks, but still managed to get through, thus putting all the drivers from the top teams into Q3. Albon, Gasly, Ricciardo, Bottas and Stroll were eliminated at this stage.
Q2, sensational blow from Leclerc
