Red Bull appear to have made a decision on Sergio Perez's future after discussing it today. According to what was reported by various media including the The Telegraph and The Times Red Bull has chosen to continue to rely on Perez to defend the constructors' world title. From the next Grand Prix, in Holland, upon returning from the summer break, Sergio Perez will still be driving the RB20 for the last 10 races of the season. Daniel Ricciardo will not arrive in his place, as the latest rumors confirmed. Verstappen's former partner will remain in Racing Bulls, awaiting the renewal that will allow him to remain in Formula 1.
Red Bull has decided, Perez remains in place
Red Bull is trying in every way to close the gap with the McLaren. The English team is in a growing phase and dictates the pace of the remaining top teams who find themselves chasing the Papaya cars. The gap in the championship is still small but Red Bull very often found itself having to fight with just one striker. In the long run, this has led to thinking about the replacement that weighs most, having recently renewed Perez's contract. Red Bull had to backtrack, giving an ultimatum to the Mexican who would be evaluated following the weekend Belgium.
Starting from the front row did not guarantee him the podium. Max Verstappen, who started eleventh, soon found himself in the lead of his teammate, struggling especially on the straight. From there, Perez's race was rather anonymous, far from the leading group, he missed every opportunity. Marko declared at the end of the race that Perez's result was not what Red Bull expected from the Mexican. A lapidary statement then followed by photographs portraying Ricciardo, Horner and Mekies engaged in a conversation in the paddock.
Not having much choice, especially given that it was still halfway through the season, Red Bull could have relied on a name from its entourage. In particular, there was talk of bringing back Daniel Ricciardo, Christian Horner's protégé, who returned to Formula 1 with the RB Visa Cash App after his farewell to McLaren, to the official team.

Horner's words
But at least for the moment this scenario does not seem destined to come true. Horner's words reported by the media in fact confirm Perez's permanence for the next races, also for the Dutch GP, the next event upon his return from the summer break. “Checo remains a Red Bull driver despite recent speculation and we look forward to seeing him at tracks he has excelled at in the past, following the summer break.”
