Ferrari has formalized a strategic agreement that establishes its collaboration with the new Cadillac team, ready to make its entry into Formula 1 in 2026. The Scuderia from Maranello will supply the American team with the Power Units and gearboxes necessary to compete in the top motor racing championship, thus consolidating a strong partnership with General Motors and Andretti Formula Racing.
The Cadillac-Andretti project takes shape even further
The announcement comes after a busy few weeks for the Cadillac project. Following the Las Vegas Grand Prix, General Motors reached an agreement with Formula 1 to secure an eleventh team on the grid starting in the 2026 season. The team structure will be based on the expertise of Andretti Formula Racing, which will serve as the operating platform, while Cadillac will represent the flagship brand of the project.
The entry of the new team was recently approved by the FIA, with the only condition that the project meets the technical and economic requirements set by the regulations. With this agreement, Ferrari confirms itself as a crucial partner, providing the technological support necessary for the first two years of the team's activity, while waiting for Cadillac to develop its own Power Unit, expected no earlier than 2028.
Ferrari press release, multi-year agreement
The official press release issued by Maranello reads:
“Ferrari today announces a multi-year agreement, starting in 2026, with Andretti Formula Racing LLC to supply power units and gearboxes to the team led by TWG Global and General Motors, subject to official FIA approval for Andretti Formula Racing LLC’s entry into the 1 FIA Formula One World Championship.”
The agreement represents a significant step for Ferrari, which has previously partnered with new teams such as Haas when they entered F1 in 2016.
A 2026 full of news
Cadillac's entry marks another important step for the future of Formula 1, which from 2026 will also see the debut of Audi in collaboration with Sauber, thus creating a more competitive and diversified grid. The arrival of new manufacturers, including the American giant General Motors, is proof of the growing global appeal of the top category.
The deal with Ferrari provides Cadillac a solid technical base to tackle the first two seasons in Formula 1, ensuring competitiveness and reliability, while General Motors will work on its internal Power Unit project.
For Ferrari, this partnership represents an opportunity to strengthen its technological and commercial influence within Formula 1. Maranello will play a central role not only in the competition, but also in developing strategic relationships with new players in the sport, confirming itself as a fundamental pillar in the motorsport panorama.
