At the end of the race, the McLaren di Lando Norris concludes in second position. A truly managed race very well that of the British who, after the pit stop of Russell (who will then put it into the wall on the last lap), finds himself in P2 a Singapore.
Lando's hot sensations
After getting out of the car and congratulating Carlos Sainz, Lando went to the interview area where he was waiting for him David Coulthard. Speaking about the race, Norris focused on the generosity of Sainz that was determinant to keep Russell behind: “Today was a very tough race. But Carlos was very generous. He helped me by giving me the DRS, it made my race easier and his too. We knew it would be tough when the Mercedes came back, they would have had the pace to overtake us but we managed to keep them behind. We came second and did everything we could, even more. So I'm very happy."
The next question focused on George's retirement on the final lap, with the 23-year-old explaining how he too touched the wall: “George out? I also touched the wall in front of him, on the same lap. I did the same thing. He copied me, but it went worse for him. No, I feel sorry for him because he fought hard throughout the race. He was probably the fastest of everyone today. His mistake helped me in the last corners, because I was able to relax for a moment. These are nice points for the whole team – Norris concluded – thanks also to Oscar. We all pushed ourselves in this race, it was stressful but it was good."
Excellent result therefore for McLaren, growing throughout this second part of the season, and who knows whether next year it will be able to return to play for the World Cup.
