Lando Norris finally does almost everything right and wins the GP Singapore. Almost, as the English driver touched the walls of Marina Bay twice, risking serious damage to his car. This did not happen and McLaren and Norris can enjoy a great result, which allows them to extend their lead in the constructors' standings and nibble away other important points on Verstappen, who finished the race just behind him.
Crucial win for Norris in Singapore as Verstappen begins to close in
This time Lando Norris left no room for criticism of any kind. He had to impose himself on everyone in qualification and he did it, even considerably detaching his opponents. In the race, at the start, he had to get off to a good start and, finally, after many attempts, he managed to keep behind those chasing him. Finally, Norris managed to settle into a crushing race pace, detaching Max Verstappen from the first laps. Even his teammate, Oscar Piastri, could do nothing against the great performance of the English driver. The only shame was that the fastest lap was stolen from the Red Bull family by Daniel Ricciardo.
Now the constructors' standings are smiling broadly on the team McLaren, with a 41-point advantage over the reigning world champions. The situation is different for the drivers' championship, which race after race seems to be giving more and more hope to Norris, who however will not be able to give anything more to his Dutch rival, given that Verstappen is still 51 points behind. For this reason, even very small errors like those committed halfway through the race by the number 4 could prove fatal. In fact, Norris kissed the wall twice, with the first contact almost forcing him to stop and put it in reverse. The second, however, at turn 14, where last year Russell ended his race chasing Carlos Sainz. Having said that, the night in Singapore will have to be the graft capable of making the English driver take a step forward in terms of maturity, who will have to take on the great responsibilities that a super competitive car is handing him this year.

A physically challenging race for the riders. Norris: “It was a race similar to Qatar”
Six more weekends to keep the world championship dream alive for Norris, who has just finished an almost perfect weekend. Once out of his McLaren after the race, the winner of the Singapore GP took some time to get to David Coulthard's microphone. There is a lot of pressure on his shoulders, with the hope that this performance can give him confidence and therefore greater lightness in the next appointments. However, there is also a lot of fatigue resulting from the complicated conditions, which have always characterised the fifteen editions of the Singapore GP.It was a similar race to Qatar last year. I could have been more relaxed, but I still took it easy. Now I feel a little dizzy but everything is fine".
Heat, humidity and a lot of pressure, which, if added to the sustained pace that Norris maintained throughout the first part of the race, probably led the driver to make the two mistakes mentioned above.Maybe I took too many risks., I had a couple of scares especially towards the middle of the race. It's not that I was pushing too hard, but sometimes you relax too much. Maybe both, I don't know. The important thing is that I didn't have too much damage. I pushed, I wanted to win well and bring home the maximum number of points. I'm also happy for Oscar who went on the podium. Nice day for the team".
Mistakes that did not detract from the great performance offered today by Lando Norris between the walls of Marina Bay.Fantastic race. I think I checked it well and the car was great, I could push and we flew the whole race. But in the end I was able to relax. It was hard, I'm a little out of breath but I had fun“. So Lando Norris, before seeing a water bottle emptied on his head by David Coulthard. A well-deserved refreshment after an exceptional race.
