The team Andretti, the project born to enter Formula 1 as the eleventh team on the grid from 2026, it no longer exists. In fact, the new team entering the top category of motorsport was registered on Friday 13 December in the United Kingdom and instead of Andretti it will be called Cadillac Formula Racing Limited.
Mario Andretti remains, son Michael out
The officialization of the name change sees a position taken by the American giant Cadillac, even if Mario Andretti, will not disappear completely from this new reality. In fact, it will be appointed super consultant, while the son Michael is no longer part of this great project. Cadillac's hand is seen in the agreements made with General Motors and the entry into the scene of the new owner, Dan Towriss. All this has accelerated, and not a little, the processes for the official admission of the Cadillac team to Formula 1.
The race to 2026 begins now, but we are already looking to 2028
There is a whole season to go before the official debut of this new team. Only in 2026 we will see the team in action Cadillac, with its entry into the top category of motor racing accompanied by that of another giant such as Audi. But the people who have embraced this project are already looking beyond, to the 2028. This is in fact the date set by GM for the complete realization of a fully autonomous power unit. In these first years in Formula 1, the supplier will be Ferrari at least until 2027. Subsequently, the American team will try to become autonomous from this point of view too, creating a completely “homemade” engine.
