The saga continues Newey-Ferrari. The British designer, after almost twenty years spent at Red Bull, he will leave the team at the end of the season. There are many teams ready to ensure his performances, especially useful in view of the regulatory changes in 2026: Ferrari e Aston Martin above all, but also McLaren e Mercedes. “Where will Newey go?” it was the main question on everyone's lips for a few months and now, after a period of "break" it is back in trend.
La Ferrari it seemed like the destination was already booked. For now, however, nothing concrete exists. The agreement between the two parties would have a deadline dated end of July. Ferrari wants Newey as super consultant and for this reason it is willing to spend more than expected, but always less than what is offered by theAston Martin: £100 million for four years, a contract more like a pilot than an engineer.
With regard to the Mercedes, the possible (but currently unlikely) hiring of Newey would increase the probability of seeing the arrival of Max Verstappen, concerned about the direction the power unit project is taking by 2026.
As he reiterated several times, Newey wants to stay close to his family, in England or at their home in South Africa. For this reason, the Ferrari she is ready to offer him a contract without presence constraints based in Maranello. The British coach would also be outside the constraints of the budget cap, as he would occupy a position at the top of the management. The market rules, however, are still there: Ferrari is listed on the stock exchange and must avoid stock fluctuations for speculative purposes.
The options for Newey are diverse and intriguing. All we have to do is wait a few weeks and see what move he will make.
