After a forgettable start, things have absolutely changed at McLaren. The Woking team is fresh from the excellent results achieved by Austrian Grand Prix, the stage in which they arrived updates to allow Norris and Piastri not only to conquer several podiums - two for the Briton and one (albeit in the Sprint) for the Australian - but also to try to dream in the constructors' championship.
McLaren, the great comeback
McLaren today is farm with 88 points behind Ferrari. Quite a bit but if you consider where the papaya team was during the first races of the season, the leap in quality is evident. From Holland, scheduled for next week, McLaren will have a great objective: to try - as it did at Silverstone and Hungary - to confirm itself in the fight with Mercedes to prove itself as the second force on the track. It is clearly not a given, especially considering Ferrari's excellent performance in Belgium, third with Charles Leclerc.
Norris: “Our time will come too”
McLaren will no doubt try and updates, once again, will be able to play a key role in the run-up. Speaking of which, Lando Norris is convinced: victory will come by the end of the year. In fact, when questioned on the issue, the Briton – as reported by FormulaPassion – confidently admitted: “The first victory? If Max retires, maybe! At the moment, Red Bull is too fast. Unless they make mistakes or something happens to their car, it's difficult. I think we must be very satisfied with the progress we have made: up until four or five races ago we sometimes struggled to get out of Q1, now we are fighting for pole and podium. That's fine for now, our time will come later in the year".
