Max Verstappen finishes a difficult GP in second place Silverstone. In the first part of the race, the dry one, the Dutch driver's Red Bull demonstrated that it did not have sufficient pace. Fighting against McLaren and the two surprising Mercedes seemed impossible. However, the rain and unstable track conditions shuffled the cards and, despite everything, Max Verstappen managed to cross the finish line in an excellent second position.
Max Verstappen in difficulty in the Silverstone GP
The Red Bull supremacy, the one we have been accustomed to in the last two years, seems to have weakened. We are witnessing a different Formula 1, with McLaren, Mercedes and Red Bull very close between them. However, when the gaps are made up of a few thousandths and hundredths of a second, the talent of a driver like Max Verstappen and the experience of a winning team like Red Bull they come out making a difference. It was fundamental for the Dutchman to remain calm during the first part of the race and when the rain arrived, when he even looked like he could be attacked by Carlos Sainz's Ferrari. Having fitted hard tires in the last part of the race, when the track was still drying, allowed Max Verstappen to overtake Lando Norris and grab a second position in the Silverstone GP which, at the start of the race, seemed almost impossible.

Verstappen honest after the race: "today we didn't have pace"
An all in all positive Silverstone GP for Max Verstappen who, despite the difficulties, still saw him conquer the podium and extend his lead on Lando Norris in the championship. Red Bull's number 1 thus confirms himself as a concrete and lucid driver even when reading complex races like this. Despite the positive outcome of the race, Verstappen admitted the difficulties encountered in the first part of the Silverstone GP: “today we didn't have the pace. At the beginning I was losing a lot of positions and it was very bad, I thought we would have finished in fifth or sixth place. But we made the right decisions, both when we switched from slick to intermediate and vice versa. We always did it on the right lap. And then in the end the team's choice to put the hard ones instead of the soft ones. This certainly helped me a lot to reach second place. It could have been much worse but I'm very happy with how it ended."
