At the checkered flag of qualifications of the Italian Grand Prix in Monza Charles Leclerc got the third position. An excellent lap by the Monegasque, however conditioned by an error Lesmo 2 which may have denied him the pole that went to his teammate Carlos Sainz.
Charles' hot words
In his post-qualifying interview, he talked about his weekend and the difficulties found in the free tests. The skill of the 24-year-old then helped put it all together to have a good ride, even if, in hindsight, a trail would have served: “My feeling can only be fantastic with the Tifosi, I'm a bit disappointed because I wanted to be first, but seeing Carlos on pole is great for Ferrari. He did an incredible job all weekend, I struggled more in free practice, while in qualifying I managed to put everything together and I was happy, but then in Q3 unfortunately I didn't have the slipstream, and this cost us at least one position. This is life, and we must be happy, especially on my part because I struggled a lot and the fans are simply incredible."
At the end of his interview, Charles took the license to say a few words in Italian towards the fans, simply retaining them spectacular: “I don't smile very often when I'm 3rd, but being here and having all this support is an amazing feeling. We will try to do a double with Carlos tomorrow, first and second. Here we are in Italy, thank you very much guys. I swear that before qualifying I was struggling and I didn't think I would be so close to pole, but Carlos did an incredible job. Tomorrow is the race and we will do everything to get a double. Go Ferrari!".
