The more time passes, the more burning topic of Charles' renewal Leclerc is approaching. The Monegasque has his contract expiring in 2024 and, at the moment, it seems no negotiations have yet started to extend this date, even if things are about to change.
Leclerc, clear idea on renewal: "I want to stay at Ferrari"
Although the parties have not yet sat down to discuss a hypothetical agreement, the will of both seems to be clear: is Ferrari that Leclerc want to continue together. There has certainly been no shortage of offers from other teams for the Monegasque - there has been a lot of talk about Aston Martin - but Leclerc would like, if logically the right offer presents itself, stay at Ferrari. The Monegasque himself confirms this desire in an exclusive interview given to Roberto Chinchero on Motorsport.com Italia: "I have always loved Ferrari, and always have my dream to be where I am today. It's clear – continued Leclerc – that no one within the team is happy with the situation we find ourselves in, but I feel at home here. I can't add much because there hasn't been a negotiation yet, apart from a few jokes".
“We haven't spoken yet”
Although the words of the Monegasque are a clear sign of wanting to continue at Ferrari, to date, however, the priorities seem to be different"We had other priorities, and probably still have them, we're just focusing on what's really important, i.e get back to being competitive as quickly as possible".
Looking forward to the meeting
Leclerc sends a very clear message to Ferrari. It will now be up to the Maranello team to sit at the table with his number # 16 and look for a agreement which would be of fundamental importance to start again, all together, from 2024.
