Charles Leclerc surprise wins the Italian GP in a sensational way. Monza is tinged with red and Mameli's anthem resounds from the loudspeakers of the racetrack. Ferrari, with a courageous and aggressive strategy, managed to resist the McLarens of Norris and Piastri, conquering a unexpected victory. Wasteful, once again, the Orange team.
Charles Leclerc triumphs in the Italian GP with heart and a lot of head
Above all limits Charles Leclerc, above all predictions. This is “being Ferrari”: going beyond what seems already written, coming together in difficulties. All this, of course, added to the precision of driving, the solidity and the talent that Leclerc is showing in the last races. In fact, after the podium in Belgium and the brilliant third place obtained last week in Zandvoort, came the unexpected victory on the brand new asphalt of the racetrack in Monza. Of course, they are not yet ready to fight in the world championship, but in the meantime Maranello seems to have found the right balance again. The updates were fundamental, especially those concerning the bottom of the car, thus avoiding the porpoising effect and, above all, allowing the two Ferrari drivers to enter the curve after the straights in a safer and more decisive manner. The improvements made, of course, will have to be verified in the next events, that is, on tracks where it will be necessary to load the cars more.
Ferrari was perfect. The only one to keep up with the overflowing McLaren, which still proves to be the car to beat and, above all, a flexible car capable of adapting to different situations. None of this would have been possible without the brilliant performance offered by both Carlos Sainz and, first of all, Charles Leclerc. The start was not the best, but thanks to George Russell's mistake at the first chicane, the Monegasque was able to immediately take third place. At the loggia then, without hesitation, Leclerc took advantage of the battle between Norris and Piastri, slipping past the English driver just before entering the first Lesmo. Finally, thanks to an aggressive strategy and sumptuous tire management, Leclerc and Ferrari grabbed the victory in the Italian Grand Prix.

A special day for Leclerc: “my emotions were the same as in 2019”
Leclerc has the merit of being able to convey great emotions with his driving. It is not easy. Formula 1 is a sport that leaves little room for body language. It is another music, another language. Here, Leclerc knows how to be the perfect performer, with his aggressiveness, his mistakes when they happen, but also with his passion and desire to never leave anything untried. For this and for what is to come, Charles will always be a Ferrari driver. Charles knows it well, and when interviewed by Nico Rosberg he reciprocated the love of the fans with a few words in Italian: “The first time was really special, in my first year at Ferrari in 2019. I thought the second time would not be so special. But here it is always special, thanks to you fans with the support and the push you give us every day when we come here. Thank you so much for everything"
A perfect Sunday for Ferrari, which was able to opt for a courageous, aggressive and, above all, millimetricly precise strategy, with Piastri who got close to Leclerc in the final laps. Just one pit stop was enough to overtake to allow Leclerc to overtake the two McLarens and Sainz to gain the position on Hamilton. Now Ferrari, to paraphrase Massimo Troisi, will be able to start again from three, like the first places achieved this year in Monza, Monaco and Melbourne. There are many unknowns, however, about the gap with McLaren and the other top teams.I think our package worked very well here in Monza, but I doubt that's the case everywhere, McLaren remains the favorite, but we we have made progress. Baku is a track I like, I have always been competitive in the past. Maybe we can do something special there too".
Leclerc thrilled by double triumph in Monza and Monaco
Charles Leclerc wins again ahead of Piastri, as happened in Monaco, his other home Grand Prix.Fantastic, it's an incredible feeling, to tell the truth I thought that the first time would have been unique, instead in the last laps my emotions were the same as in 2019. I then tried to see the stands, even if it was a bit complicated. Monaco and Monza are extraordinary, they are the races I would like to win every year. Obviously I want to win the world championship, but these are the two most important races for me and I managed to win both of them this year“. A magic, that of Monza, which was repeated perhaps in an even more exciting way, given the values on the field, compared to what happened five years ago in 2019. And now, for Leclerc and Ferrari the time has come to remain solid and consistent in performance, with McLaren which is superior but does not seem as far away as seen in the past. In short, the next goal is clear: to be competitive for the world championship within a short time.
