After the sprint qualifications in Brazil, Charles Leclerc was summoned by the commissioners for incorrect language. The reason, however, dates back to the GP of Mexico. In Post-race press conference, in fact, the Ferrari driver (who finished the race in third place) said a swear word while explaining the overtaking he immediately took in favour of Lando Norris.
"I had oversteer and as I was trying to recover, I had oversteer on the other side and I thought: “F***”, then fortunately… Oh, no! Oh, no! I don’t want to end up like Max!". Already during the interview, Leclerc had sensed the mistake, trying to joke about it and avoid the sanction, in the hope that the stewards would interpret his exit as unwanted.
The precedent set by Max Verstappen a Singapore, in fact, imposes a sentence of "socially useful work” to anyone who uses swear words during a press conference or interview. In the case of Leclerc, the investigation was slow in coming, prompting a response from Verstappen: "It seems that the penalty only counts in my case.", he commented on Thursday.
Now, however, the official summons has also arrived for the Ferrari driver, guilty of having broken theArticle 12.2.1.k of the regulation. Soon, therefore, we will know the outcome of the meeting, scheduled for the 21.45 of tonight.
