Lando Norris concludes the GP of Silverstone only in third place. A bitter result obtained in the home grand prix, especially given the competitiveness shown on the track on Friday. The McLarens still prove to be very fast compared to their rivals, but incapable of capitalizing on the result. Andrea Stella will have a lot of work to do to refine the potential of the team, which often lacks clarity in crucial moments.
Disappointment for Lando Norris in the Silverstone GP
Lando Norris and McLaren have now become two identical sides of the same coin. Probably if they could look in the mirror, they could find each other's features in their reflection. Indeed, both the team and the English driver once again demonstrated notable shortcomings during decisive moments. Norris makes another mistake at the start, leaving too much space for Verstappen, who passes him cleverly. His team, however, does not first make the double pit stop with Piastri. Then, subsequently, he leaves Norris one more lap on the intermediates, allowing the bravest one Verstappen to get closer. Finally, to follow the choice made by Hamilton, they decide to fit soft tires on Norris. A fateful decision that cost the English driver the victory and, in the last five laps, also second position. Fitting a harder rubber compound, also given the strong competitiveness of McLaren compared to its rivals, would have allowed Norris to arrive at the end of the race in a position to attack first position.

Norris critical of himself and the team
Yet another Norris e branded waste McLaren, who on Friday hoped for very different results. In the post-race of the Silverstone GP, the number four driver of the English team said he was very disappointed with the decisions made by the team, but did not spare harsh words even towards himself: "It was tough, but it was a fun, pleasant race. But I think that in these complicated conditions you are always on a razor's edge and you risk a lot. Many things went well, but in some respects we were disappointing today. As a team we didn't do the job we had to do, because you also need to know how to make the right decision. At the same time I also blame myself, because I also didn't get it in some moments and I have no excuse for not doing a good enough job."
Norris then said he was disappointed with the final result, complimenting Mercedes and winner Lewis Hamilton: “it's detestable to end up in this position. If there was one place where I wanted everything to be okay it was this one. I'll try to come back faster next year and try again. Congratulations to Lewis and hats off to Mercedes, they deserved it and did a better job."
