Qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix provided intense emotions and a historic result for McLaren. So let's see the starting grid for the Hungarian GP.
McLaren monopolizes the front row, a historic achievement
For the first time since 2012, the Woking team will occupy the entire front row of the starting grid. Lando Norris took pole position with a time of 1:15.227, beating teammate Oscar Piastri by just 22 thousandths. A minimal gap which testifies to the impressive growth of the MCL38 after the updates made in Miami. Behind them, Max Verstappen, who despite an impeccable qualifying only achieved the third fastest time, separated from Norris by just 46 thousandths. McLaren has a golden opportunity ahead of it, which it cannot afford to throw away.
Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri will therefore be on the front row, with Norris in pole position for the third time in his career. They will start in the second row, immediately behind the McLarens Max Verstappen e Carlos Sainz. The Spaniard set the fourth fastest time, earning himself an important position on the grid thanks to a final fast lap in Q3.

The top 10 of the starting grid of the Hungarian GP
In the third row we find Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc. Hamilton, with his Mercedes, will start from fifth position, while Leclerc, less comfortable on the Hungarian track, had to settle for sixth place. The fourth row is occupied by the two Aston Martins, with Fernando Alonso in seventh position and Lance Stroll in eighth. Alonso made the most of his car's potential, while Stroll showed good consistency during qualifying. On the fifth row, Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda will start from ninth and tenth position respectively, bringing both VCARBs into the top ten. In Q3 they could have done better, but Yuki's accident sealed the fate of both.
Perez and Russell called to comeback
Continuing on the grid, we find Nico Hulkenberg on Haas who will start from eleventh position, flanked by Valtteri Bottas on Sauber Stake in twelfth. Alexander Albon and Logan Sargeant, the two Williams standard-bearers, will occupy thirteenth and fourteenth positions respectively. Kevin Magnussen, with the other Haas, will start fifteenth.
Disappointing qualifying for Sergio Pérez and George Russell. Pérez, due to an error in turn 8 which brought him into the barriers, will start sixteenth, while Russell, penalized by poor time management in Q1, had to settle for seventeenth position.
Closing the grid are Guanyu Zhou on Sauber Stake in eighteenth position, and the two Alpine drivers, Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly, who will start from the Pit Lane.
The race promises to be intense and uncertain, with the McLaren front row trying to defend the lead from the attacks of Verstappen and the Ferraris. At the Hungaroring, a track notoriously stingy with overtaking, strategy and tire management will be crucial.
