“We are in difficulty at the moment. We don't have the fastest car, but we have Max and that makes the difference,” Red Bull super consultant Helmut Marko told GrandPrix247. In a difficult moment in which Red Bull has not won for two consecutive weekends and is unable to keep up with the cars that have grown through development, it is the talent and determination of Max Verstappen to keep the team in the game.
The Austrian highlighted how, despite the recent technical updates of rivals such as McLaren and Mercedes, Red Bull manages to remain competitive thanks to Verstappen. “We have to recover, since McLaren was updated in Miami it has been the most competitive car: It's fast everywhere and in all conditions, and now Mercedes seems to have caught up to it,” added Marko. At the moment Max Verstappen still has a good advantage over the competition from a world perspective, but for the constructors' title it is not enough.
Red Bull wants to return by focusing on updates
At the moment Red Bull is focused on managing resources and optimizing current performance. Marko highlighted how, despite the difficulties, the team was lucky enough to be able to widen the gap in the drivers' and constructors' championshipthe. This result is largely attributable to Verstappen's ability to maximize every opportunity and minimize errors. Even when the car is not the fastest, superior race execution allows Red Bull to remain competitive.

Red Bull is determined to solve its problems and improve the car's performance. Marko hopes to be competitive again with the next updates: “We will bring an update and hope that this development goes well, in order to be competitive. At the moment we are behind and have problems,” admitted Marko. This statement demonstrates the team's willingness not to give up and to continue fighting to improve its position. The main problem for Red Bull concerns the correlation between simulator and track. An element that led the team to ask itself what the best path to take is.
