The main theme of the eve of the Miami GP is Adrian Newey's departure from Red Bull. Arriving in 2006, the English engineer left his mark on all the winning single-seaters of the Milton Keynes team. Now, however, he will leave the Formula 1 team, focus on the RB17 project (the first Red Bull hypercar) and then be free to join other teams. Among these is the Ferrari, with the future pilot Lewis Hamilton which would support his potential landing in Maranello.
Hamilton: “Newey is at the top of the list of people I would like to work with”
"I would love to work with Newey at Ferrari, has done an amazing job in his career – explained Hamilton during the press conference on Thursday - It would be an extraordinary purchase. What if I expressed to Ferrari my desire to have Newey with me? These are all private conversations, but if I had to make a list of people I would like to work with, he would be at the top".
“From my perspective, when I joined McLaren the car was an evolution of his work. I arrived just after he left, so the car had evolved from a concept he had worked on and I felt privileged for that. We have seen that the teams where he worked have always been great opponents for everyone. But it is always the team that counts most of all, so the experience he brings is exploited by those who remain. But any team would be lucky to work with him".
