It's a bit of a special year for Haas. The American team hoped to make a big leap in quality during this season and, however, this was not the case. Reliability problems on Sunday they are very present on the VF-23, with Hulkenberg and Magnussen unable to consistently reach the top ten.
Haas, not an excellent season
Haas, at the moment, is eighth in the constructors' standings – on equal points with an excel Williams, driven by Alexander Albon. Nico Hulkenberg and Kevin Magnussen they are the couple of experience on which the Haas has relied on this season. Results, if desired, partially obtained. If on the one hand, in fact, Magnussen appeared to be in difficulty several times - with only 2 points won - on the other hand he hardly we could have asked Nico Hulkenberg for something more. The German, after a three-year break - except for a few small replacements during the Covid period - was one of the special observers for this season and the responses were more than positive.
Steiner: “Hulkenberg amazed me a lot”
To confirm Hulkenberg's excellent first part of the season is also the team principal of Haas Steiner, who specified what the German is convincing him: “I was quite impressed. We took him because we knew he could drive our car very well. The doubt, however, was linked to getting back into the game after three years as a non-full-time driver. I was wondering: how long will it take to adapt? In the end, it didn't take him long, on the contrary. He was ready from day one. For me he is absolutely impressive, especially from the human side: he helps the team and this is exactly what we were asking for with his experience".
“His experience is making itself felt”
With a contract expiring, there seems to be no doubt about his renewal. After all, the results speak very clearly"He entered Q3 six times and scored nine points in total, demonstrating that he is also strong in the race. Of course, the car he has is not enough and for this reason I can guarantee that we don't have a driver problem. The team is very happy with Nico. He really surprised me with how he was able to integrate with the team. It's crazy how he adapted to us immediately. But, I repeat, at the end of the day we are talking about experience and he has done this for a long time: he knows very well what he has to do” – concluded Steiner.
