In the Silverstone GP, which closes the first triptych of races of the season, qualifying offered an extraordinary spectacle, giving us a starting grid that reflects the tight competition and unpredictability that is characterizing the final phase of this first half of the championship. George Russell, Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris took the top three positions. A historic result that makes the match even more exciting, especially for the British fans. With Mercedes and McLaren ready to challenge Red Bull's supremacy, the Silverstone GP promises excitement until the checkered flag, so let's see the starting grid.
Qualifying at Silverstone saw George Russell take pole position for the third time in his career, with an impressive time of 1:25.819. His teammate in Mercedes, Lewis Hamilton will join him on the front row, giving the German team an extraordinary double. This result is surprising, considering that compared to McLaren and Red Bull, Mercedes was significantly further behind. However, Mercedes' recent improvements have paid off, allowing Russell to take an unexpected pole and Hamilton to take second place.

McLaren tries to catch Mercedes, Perez will start from Pit Lane
McLaren's Lando Norris, who had shone in Q2 and briefly held provisional pole in Q3, will start from third position. A mistake at Turn 3 on his final flying lap compromised his performance, forcing him to pit without improving his time. Max Verstappen, world championship leader, will start from fourth position, penalized by damage to the floor of his Red Bull, caused by an off-track exit at Copse in Q1.
Behind the Dutchman there will be Oscar Piastri. The young Australian missed the opportunity to improve his time on the final lap due to the proximity of Carlos Sainz's Ferrari, which negatively affected his car's performance in the corners. The one who surprised positively was Nico Hulkenberg who placed his Haas in sixth position, ahead of Carlos Sainz, seventh. These are tough times for the Maranello team who returned to the specifications before the updates.
However, in the top 10 we find both Aston Martins with Lance Stroll starting eighth, followed by Alex Albon's Williams and Fernando Alonso's second Aston Martin. Both Stroll and Alonso were investigated during qualifying for minor infringements, but were pardoned by the stewards.
Charles Leclerc's Ferrari will start from 11th position, after a disappointing qualifying which saw him eliminated in Q2. Logan Sargeant, Yuki Tsunoda, Zhou Guanyu and Daniel Ricciardo complete the top 15.
The last four positions on the grid are occupied by Valtteri Bottas' Sauber, Kevin Magnussen's Haas, Esteban Ocon's Alpine and Pierre Gasly's second Alpine. Perez, who ended up in the gravel in Q1, will not start from P19 but from Pit Lane. She will take his place Gasly, who should have started from the bottom for the Power Unit change.
