After the first free practice of Friday, the Formula 1 back on track for FP2 at Silverstone: The session ended with Lando Norris setting the first time, followed by Leclerc and Hamilton.
In FP1, Ferrari was convincing, with Hamilton setting the fastest time and Leclerc just outside the top 3. So the Maranello team is looking for confirmation in the second session of the day, which opens with most of the cars immediately on the track.
In FP2 Hamilton picks up where he left off
After just over 10 minutes of FP2, Hamilton is still in command at Silverstone, ahead of Hadjar, Piastri, Leclerc and Norris, all on medium tyres but already very close to the best time of FP1. Sainz causes the first yellow flag of the session: the Spaniard spins at turn 7 and ends up dangerously close to Hamilton who was passing by right at that moment.

Meanwhile Leclerc is 15 thousandths ahead of Hamilton, while Piastri is third at 25 thousandths. The Englishman then went for a further attempt with the yellow tyre and responded to the Monegasque's time with a 1.26.592. XNUMX, almost three tenths of a second ahead. The Ferrari seems to confirm itself as an excellent car, balanced, stable and very low, as perhaps we have never seen it this season.
It's time for the red rubber at Silverstone and Norris proves to be the fastest
With just over half an hour to go in FP2, Silverstone begins testing the single lap on the soft tyre, while Norris, Piastri and the Ferraris remain in the pits. The first to try were the Mercedes drivers, who moved into the top positions, with Antonelli first, after a big risk at the last corner, and Russell second. Hadjar occupies third position, while the Ferraris and McLarens also take to the track with soft tyres.
Norris signs an excellent 1.25.816, behind him at 3 tenths distance Hamilton and Leclerc, followed by Piastri and the two Mercedes, divided by Stroll, while Verstappen is only ninth, even behind Hadjar. Leclerc closes on Norris (two tenths) with a very good lap, considering that the tyres he was using already had several laps on them.

The final 20 minutes of FP2 at Silverstone are used for race pace simulations and once again the McLaren drivers seem to be prevailing. and above all Norris. The race pace of the Papaya team was incredible, while also Leclerc seems to be going very fast and consistently, Hamilton on the other hand seemed to be in more difficulty. Verstappen and Mercedes seem to be a little further behind.
FP2 at Silverstone ends with Norris ahead of the Ferrari duo Leclerc-Hamilton and Piastri. Completing the top 10 are Verstappen, Antonelli, Stroll, Russell, Hadjar and Lawson. In the second half of the standings there do not seem to be any surprises: Tsunoda in fifteenth place continues to struggle, as do the Haas, Alpine and Sainz.
The appointment now, with an eye on the weather, is for tomorrow for the third free practice at 12:30 and for qualifying at 16:00.
