Barcelona gave the first responses with qualifying: in the race it will once again be a battle between McLaren and Red Bull. The team led by Andrea Stella was able to confirm its solidity by conquering a very important Pole in "enemy" territory by just 20 thousandths. Max Verstappen was able to do nothing, also helped by the wake of his teammate who, however, will have to serve a penalty after the episode in Canada. Mercedes and Ferrari, despite being further away in time, have the podium as their objective. The Maranello team confirmed some weaknesses in qualifying that had already manifested themselves in previous events, with a question mark on the race pace which we could however answer at the end of the GP. While waiting for the start of the race which will start at 15:00 pm, let's see the starting grid of the Spanish GP.
Lando Norris in Spain broke a fast that had lasted since Sochi 2021. But unlike the first Pole, this one has a different flavor because it is the result of a lot of work in Woking which brought the MCL38 to a very high level. McLaren started the season a little quietly, gaining more and more say race after race until the revelation in Miami. The road to the title is still long, we are not even halfway through the season. However, the English team confirmed that it has the most suitable single-seater for each type of circuit. The race in Spain will provide further evidence in this regard, especially in comparison with Red Bull who starts next to it, but there is a certain optimism also for the long distance. The person who seems to have made the most of the changes to this car is Lando Norris. Oscar Piastri, unlike his team mate in qualifying, was unable to place higher than tenth position. However, Piastri will be able to start one place higher due to Perez's 3-place penalty, who will instead slip to eleventh position.

The starting grid of the Spanish GP
If the front row renews the Norris – Verstappen challenge, the second, third and fourth are reserved for challenges between teammates. In fact, we find the Mercedes pair in order in the second row, the Ferrari one in the third and even the Alpine one in the fourth. At the beginning of the weekend, the French team announced the arrival of Flavio Briatore. Who knows if his presence will also bring luck in the race. Lando Norris and Fernando Alonso complete the top 10 on the grid.
Immediately outside the top 10 we find Sergio Perez. At his side Valtteri Bottas. Seventh row instead for Nico Hulkenberg and Lance Stroll. Closing out the lineup are Zhou and Magnussen, Tsunoda and Ricciardo and Sargeant. The FIA also gave the American driver a 3-place penalty for impeding Stroll in qualifying. However, starting from last, this will obviously have no repercussions. His teammate will instead start from Pit Lane.
