The 78 free-diving laps of the Monaco GP ended with the victory of Charles Leclerc, a result that, as Frederic Vasseur says, the team tried to protect right from the start. If in fact Leclerc put a lot of his effort into qualifying, winning Pole, in the race the team also had to unite on the strategy to allow the Monegasque to keep the starting position. Position also held by Carlos Sainz, for a double Ferrari podium which becomes important especially from a constructors' point of view. Let's see the words of Frederic Vasseur at the end of the Monaco GP.
Ferrari wins in freedive in Monaco, Vasseur rejoices
There are no doubts about Ferrari's growth, this allowed the team to arrive in Monaco with a fair amount of peace of mind. Discreet, because in Monaco, the twist is just around the corner. The strategy underwent a rapid change with the first race incident involving a Red flag on lap 1 caused by Magnussen and Perez. From there everything was based on tire management, with Sainz returning to the race after the puncture due to contact with Piastri. And with the unknowns of a further Safety Car, considering the 76 laps to be run.
"Charles had had a couple of difficult races here in Monaco and honestly this weekend he was ready from the first lap of free practice 1 – admits Vesseur. We had to manage various situations, the red flag at the beginning led us to manage the same set of tires for 77 laps. Charles asked us a couple of times if he could push because it was difficult to control so much but it was a great race. Also thanks to Carlos, who managed to keep the others at bay behind him, and he too should be congratulated for this race.”

“The group is pushing a lot and in the right direction, we are not world champions so we need to remain calm but the direction we have taken is the right one. We are pushing and this is a motivation for everyone, on the track and in the factory. When did we realize we could win? Friday morning, from the first lap of free practice. Charles had exceptional pace and had the situation under control. Getting both cars into the top 3 was the goal of the race. We knew we had to keep control without pushing unnecessarily."
Ferrari will now have a week to celebrate, but above all to prepare for the Canadian GP, the next event on the calendar.
