The Circus after returning to China he moved from the Asian continent to stop in America, more precisely in Miami, in his third appearance on the Formula 1 calendar. Here too, as in Shanghai, a Sprint weekend will be held, the second of the season, as well as the first in this stage . The teams are preparing to bring many new features to the track, so let's see all the times for the Miami GP, so as not to miss a single session.
Ferrari wants redemption, McLaren the podium, Red Bull confirms it
In China Ferrari had its first major difficulties in tire management, with the low temperatures the SF-24 struggled to start. Leclerc and Sainz minimized the damage, placing themselves immediately after the competition, i.e. the two Red Bulls but also behind the McLaren of Lando Norris, missing the podium for the first race since the start of the season. In Miami the Maranello team for 70 years in America will show off a celebratory but also strategic livery, given that it arrives at the time of the announcement of the new sponsor, HP (Hewlett-Packard).
Red Bull continues its solo climb. In China he achieved the fourth victory out of 5 events held. The Sprint weekend did not particularly affect the Austrian team. Only Max Verstappen has won in Miami so far, both in 2022 and 2023. Since the start of the season there has only been one missed opportunity for the team, namely Melbourne. Ferrari hopes to be able to replicate what it did in Australia, and to get closer especially in qualifying. The presence of the Sprint weekend is always an unknown although this new format with the parc fermé divided between the Sprint Race and the Race allows for variation and therefore not to compromise the entire weekend.
Miami is one of the tracks where according to Carlos Sainz Ferrari could have done well. Sainz is not the only one to think so, Helmut Marko also expressed his concerns on the eve of the race weekend in Miami. However, a further unknown remains, namely the state of strength of McLaren. In "normal" conditions Ferrari managed to keep a gap with the MCL38, but in China the situation was reversed. Andrea Stella's team will bring significant updates to Miami not only for pure performance but above all to improve tire degradation. A fight therefore that becomes more and more interesting. Last year we saw what an in-form McLaren can do, and the aim for the team is to get back to that level, although they are still in their infancy.
GP Miami, times and where to see F1 on the track
After three morning appointments we move on to the evening, with slightly more convenient times for the European public. As always it will be possible to follow the Miami F1 GP live on Sky Sport and in streaming on NOW. Just as in every Sprint weekend we will have only one free practice session on Friday, followed by qualifying for the Sprint which will take place on Saturday. Also on Saturday we will have the other qualifications after the Sprint, those for the Sunday race. The Sprint will be broadcast live on TV8 in Miami unlike the GP qualifying and the Race which will be broadcast deferred.
