The excellent successes of the past two editions do not stop the organizers of the Miami GP. They are a lot the news planned for next season, when – in calendar made up of 24 races – the Florida GP will take place from 3 to 5 May.
The organizers' plan
One of the first innovations, as he says motorsport.com, comes from the track that will be more rubberized than previous editions. Several drivers during the Miami race week they complained about a lack of grip on the track surface, forcing the organizers to make it even more rubberized. This change was announced by the president of the Miami GP Tyler Epp"We have had discussions with the FIA and F1 to try to have a little more rubber on the track before the F1 cars go into action. It's something we are evaluating for next year. We'll try to make it as good as possible, but we have I had times that were almost 2" better and seen a greater number of overtakings, including one for the record".
The Miami GP can take place at night
In addition to the changes to the asphalt, the possibility of seeing has been discussed several times the Miami GP take place in night. A hypothesis which, however, at least at the moment, does not seem to drive Formula 1 crazy - especially considering the time difference with Europe -. However, Miami tries, even if Epp demands guarantees first: "Some promoters were very helpful: Singapore, and in particular Las Vegas, and we talked to see if it could be done and made sense. But we haven't gone too far into the analysis, because at a certain point we ask ourselves why do it? We need to make sure there is a justifiable reason".
Sprint weekend hypothesis?
It didn't end here. Another hypothesis in view of next season is to allow the Miami GP to host one of the six Sprint races scheduled for 2024. A possibility that the organizers are starting to reflect on: “We are always interested in sprint races. But I'll also tell you that Qualifications are very important to us. We see a lot of value in that and I think a lot of fans have given it great feedback on traditional qualifications. But we are here to support F1 and if sooner or later we have the opportunity to host a sprint race, we will be happy to do so. But it's not something we're actively pursuing".
