“I know when we will sign and when we organize the GP”. With these words, the president of the Ifema trade fair consortium José Vicente de los Mozos announced that the negotiations to bring Formula 1 to Madrid are ever closer to closure. “We have a confidential agreement with Formula 1" – added de los Mozos, in statements reported by Europa Press.
GP Madrid, the possibilities are growing more and more
For quite some time, Madrid has presented on the counter Liberty Medium the request to host a Formula 1 GP. The realization of this hypothesis has always seemed difficult, considering that Spain already boasts a stage in the calendar like Barcelona. Another aspect that should not be underestimated is also the number of races that can be held within a season which, currently, it is of maximum 25 and we will have some already next season 24.

De los Mozos: “We are proceeding without problem”
However, based on what President de los Mozos told, it seems that the marriage between Madrid and Formula 1 will take place, even if we don't yet know when: “It won't be a race but an experience, the best in Europe". With the arrival of the capital of Spain on the calendar, for the peninsula there would be two races - as in the case of Italy - to take place during the season: "If, in the end, there were to be two matches I would be happy but I speak and work for Madrid's advantage – added de los Mozos. We followed the path indicated to us by Formula 1. The Spanish Automobile Federation was informed from the beginning and we signed an exclusivity contract in December. We are moving forward now".
We therefore travel straight to Spain, with an agreement which, from what is filtering through, seems to have been found. All that remains is to wait for official announcements, but Madrid and Formula 1 have never been so close.
