At the Imola GP he finished his race in second position Lando Norris. McLaren has once again demonstrated the goodness of its team updates. In fact, the Briton almost closed the gap on Verstappen to earn his second career victory afterwards Miami.
Norris's immediate words: "It's a shame, with a few more laps I would have taken it"
In the post-race interview, Norris showed all his disappointment for the final duel with Verstappen. According to him, if the grand prix had lasted longer, it would have been managed to pass: "Of course it's a shame, because I know that with a few more laps we would have passed him. I lost too much time at the start of the race, we were slightly worse than them with the mediums. It was a not so good first half and a much better second half, but today in general it wasn't the right day".
“Today we can fight against the Red Bulls”
The Englishman then focused on the general behavior of his car. For him, the fight with Red Bull it is no longer a mirage: “Last weekend we were firmly convinced of being able to fight with Red Bull. But after what we saw today, in my opinion we can fight [with Red Bull] in all races. We are doing a great job, both me and the team. Now we have to continue like this. From what we've seen throughout the season, to say we are frustrated not to have won is a surprise. But from what we have seen with the updates we should expect to fighting for these positions every weekend".
Another wonderful grand prix for Lando Norris and McLaren. The path taken by the team is the correct one, and without a doubt they won't want to stop now. The British team is ready for another challenge with Red Bull and Ferrari next week in Monaco.
