The cars of Formula 1 take to the track for the second time on this hot Friday for FP2 of the Spanish GP, session that saw the supremacy Oscar Piastri, ahead of Russell and Verstappen. Ferrari, unlike the first free practice session, encountered some difficulties. Far behind both Leclerc and Hamilton in the dry lap simulation and race pace.
Action straight away in FP2
Everyone on track from the first minutes in a very useful session for everyone to really understand what the new directive on flexible wings and forces on the track will bring. Ready and go and immediately Norris' McLaren takes the lead at a point in the session when almost everyone is on the track with medium tyres. The Englishman's time is 1.13.636, already improved on the best time of the first free practice signed with red erasers, followed by Verstappen and Piastri.
Antonelli was more positive than in the 13pm session, which saw Mercedes struggle a lot. The Italian driver occupies the fourth position after 15 minutes, while Russell occupies the seventh. Oliver Bearman causes the first yellow flag of the session with a spin in turn 3 that sends him into the gravel. The young Haas driver restarts without problems but has to stop in the pits for some alleged damage to the bottom.

Russell, confirming what Antonelli said, he always places himself in front of everyone with medium tyres. Ferrari are in eighth position with Leclerc and in 13th with Hamilton, followed by Tsunoda, still very far behind Verstappen.
Qualifying simulation begins in FP2 of the Spanish GP
With 40 minutes to go, Mercedes took to the track with red tyres to simulate qualifying, followed by Norris and Red Bull and then all the teams. Russell signs an interesting 1.13.046, followed by Verstappen and Norris, both 24 thousandths behind.

Piastri and the Ferraris are also invited to the party and if Piastri signs the first half with a 1.12.760, Ferraris are struggling a lot. Hamilton, who defines the undriveable car, is eleventh at almost 8 tenths from the Australian driver while Leclerc is fifth at half a second. Oscar Piastri's time is excellent, as he signs the three best sectors of the session, demonstrating an excellent McLaren.
Worth mentioning is Alonso in seventh position after previous difficulties, followed by Gasly and the two Racing Bulls who complete the top 10. Williams are struggling, at least in the qualifying simulation, who occupy fourteenth and fifteenth positions with Sainz ahead of Albon.
With 25 minutes to go in the session, the teams begin their race simulations. Red tyres for Mercedes and yellow tyres for McLaren. Work and set-up changes at Ferrari in the pits after their poor performance so far in FP2.
Norris and Verstappen's race pace was excellent, while I'm a little more in difficulty Piastri, Mercedes and Ferrari. The Scuderia from Maranello after an excellent first session seems unrecognizable. Both the flying lap and the race pace are clearly worse than the McLaren and Verstappen's Red Bull. The session ends with Piastri in first position followed by Russell, Verstappen, Norris, Leclerc, Antonelli, Alonso, Gasly, Hadjar, Lawson and Hamilton.
