The weekend begins Belgian GP, the twelfth round of the season and the last before the summer break. Fundamental session for all teams, as it is the only free practice available on the weekend with the sprint format. It's raining in the Ardennes and it will probably be like that at 17pm, with qualifying which will determine the starting grid for Sunday's race.
Qualification that, being the unstable weather, it may not take place. In this case, the race direction has made it known that the start will be decided by the World Championship ranking. Perez, therefore, would start from pole position, as Verstappen will discount 5 penalty positions for replacing the gearbox.
The report of the FP1 in Belgium

All the drivers take to the track on intermediate or full wet tires and, obviously, some are protagonists off track, fortunately without consequences for any pilot. Among these, Pierre gasly and Logan Sergeant they cause a yellow and a red flag respectively, which stops the session for about ten minutes. After a part of the session with intermediate tire conditions, we return to using the full wet compounds.
The first session of the Belgian GP ends with Carlos Sainz ahead of Oscar's two McLarens Piastres and Lando Norris. Charles Leclerc and Sergius Perez complete the top 5. Albon, tsunoda, Magnussen, Ricciardo and Hulkenberg close the top 10. Important names such as Alonso, Hamilton e Russell they are 11th, 12th and 13th respectively, with Max Verstappen in last position without having recorded any lap time.
Some riders, such as the two Alpines of Gasly and Ocon and Stroll as well as the Dutchman, have chosen not to risk too much, on a weekend in which every set of wet tires can prove fundamental and on a track that we know is dangerous for the riders in the wet.
