The last couple of months have given Formula 1 a competitiveness that has been lacking like air in recent years, but for the Maranello team this has meant slipping from second to fourth place in the hierarchies on the track (and third in the standings) .
A positive 2024 but a trend that needs to be reversed
In any case, as underlined by many Ferrari men including Charles Leclerc, 2024 has been a year so far positive. Just compare the average points per weekend of the current season with the past one after 14 races: 24 points in 2024 against the 16 of 2023 and a gap from Red Bull reduced by 25 points per weekend at 4.
Just last year, after the negative Zandvoort GP, Ferrari began an excellent period of form which saw it rise from fourth to second place in the constructors' standings. 12 months later, however, the situation is diametrically opposite: being overtaken by McLaren in second place and a Mercedes approaching at a thousand an hour.
The point on the updates, on the track and in the team

In the meantime, next Monday activities will resume F1, with a planned wind tunnel update. This will serve to provide more precise data regarding the lateral flow andfront end, the most delicate part to change on this generation's single-seaters.
In addition to the updates on the single-seater, work is also being done to "update" the technical team. Loic Serra, ex Mercedes, will be called upon to cover the role of technical director e responsible for the chassis, while Diego Tondi will continue his work head of aerodynamicists. In this way, the structure of Ferrari will be more similar to that of McLaren, with three technical directors (Serra, Tondi and Montecchi) responsible for chassis-aerodynamics-vehicle.
