Ferrari with Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz completed the fifth 2024 test session for Pirelli in two days of testing at the Mugello Circuit. The two drivers alternated driving the SF-24 between Thursday and Friday, with the aim of testing the new compound solutions of the Milanese company in view of the next Formula 1 season. This is the second consecutive appointment for Ferrari which It comes from another Pirelli test session, at Paul Ricard two weeks ago. The fifth for Pirelli after those of Barcelona, Jerez, Suzuka and Le Castellet.
Ferrari wants to archive the last week, after a complicated weekend in Canada ended with a double withdrawal. One way to do this is to get to work straight away, which he was able to do in the two days of testing at Mugello for Pirelli. The first to take to the track was Charles Leclerc. The Monegasque completed 120 laps on Thursday, testing various prototypes with the aim of reducing tire overheating. Precisely for this reason, given the nature of the circuit, it was decided to test these prototypes at Mugello, and with harder compounds. Carlos Sainz completed 135 laps the following day, covering 707 km.
Mario Isola on the Pirelli tests with Ferrari at Mugello
The tests at Mugello with Ferrari were a very important test for the tyres, as Mario Isola also underlines: “First of all, I want to thank Scuderia Ferrari once again for their collaboration in this test – commented Mario Isola, Director of Pirelli Motorsport – we are in a very intense phase of the season and having supported us again with the presence of the two starting drivers represents an important commitment. For us they were two very profitable days on a beautiful track like Mugello, a very testing ground for the tyres, given its configuration full of fast and long corners: the ideal scenario for experimenting with harder compound solutions."

The program for the next few months, which will include filming at Silverstone and Spa
The tests with Ferrari were completed successfully but the program is still intense, as Mario Isola explains: “The data collected in these 1337 kilometers traveled here in two days are very interesting and will allow us to begin to narrow down the field of the most effective solutions – Isola continued – so that we can finalize the choices over the next few months. Now our testing program will return to take advantage of the opportunity to ride on the tracks used in Grand Prix in the days following the events: in fact, we will test at Silverstone immediately after the British Grand Prix and then at Spa after the Belgian Grand Prix".
