Ferrari in Hungary finds itself facing an important opportunity to return to fighting for the top after the setback in Spain, Austria and Great Britain. Bouncing in Budapest is less present and the team brought some updates to mitigate the problems highlighted with the introduction of the second evolutionary package. The objective of the weekend is to maximize the result but to do this the Red team needs to obtain as much data as possible. Which on Friday she managed to do halfway. The first day of free practice for the Hungarian Grand Prix ended with mixed feelings for Charles Leclerc. After a promising start in FP1, the Monegasque driver was involved in an accident in the second practice session, which put a damper on his enthusiasm. Interviewed after the session by Sky Sport F1, the Monegasque admitted the mistake, underlining the good feeling despite the bad episode.
Charles Leclerc, his statements after the first day of free practice in Hungary
“The feeling is improving a little' – Leclerc told Sky Sport F1 – we had a more consistent day than the last three or four weekends, so that's positive. Unfortunately, due to an error, the mileage was reduced, but we hope to be able to recover it soon." The driver's words reflect moderate satisfaction with the improvements made by Ferrari, which has introduced new specifications on the bottom of the car to solve the bouncing problems.

A Friday with two faces for Leclerc
Friday ended in a negative way, but Leclerc still sees room for improvement, showing confidence in the possibility of recovering in the next sessions and obtaining a good result in the race: “The day didn't end positively, even if it started quite well. We've fitted new parts to the car that seem to do what we want, so that's always a positive. Unfortunately I made a mistake at Turn 4 in FP2 and this reduced the activity a bit in the session. We did fewer laps than we would have liked, but there is still tomorrow and the feeling with the car is quite good. I hope this is reflected in the race."
Despite the accident that compromised FP2, Leclerc said he was positive about Ferrari's progress. “I wouldn't get carried away too quickly, but the feeling is good – continued the Monegasque – I think we are still a little behind McLaren, who seem very strong this weekend. However, as I said, the sensations are good and this is always a good sign. Now we have to put it all together tomorrow, and I hope we can".
