Formula 1 finds itself in Qatar for the penultimate seasonal appointment. The Ferrari comes from a third and fourth place in Las Vegas. These positionings have allowed the Scuderia to shorten to 24 points from McLaren. But it's not the result he expected Frederic Vasseur to the eve of the grand prix in Sin city.
Vasseur before Qatar: “Circuit characteristics not in our favor”
The Ferrari team principal has spoken about the Grand Prix that will take place this weekend. The move from the Strip to the Lusail track is huge. Not only in terms of temperatures, but also and above all in terms of the conformation of the track. This does not tend in favor of the Red, as these are fast corners where a lot of aerodynamic load and little porpoising is needed: "The transition from Las Vegas to Lusail is brutal. First of all, we go from the cold of the American night to the heat of the Arabian land. And secondly, the tracks are very different from each other. Last week we were faced with 90-degree corners and long straights, here it's the complete opposite. There are high-speed bends, which are not really compatible with our machine".

“We have to be cynical about every detail”
In his interview before the Qatar GP, Vasseur recalled the nature of this race: in fact, this weekend there will be the last sprint of the year. Fundamental question, where every detail counts: "This Grand Prix will be the last one with the Sprint format, so all the work done in Maranello will be fundamental because we only have one free test availableWe don't have to think about doing calculations – continued the team principal of the Reds speaking about the Constructors' Championship – There are 59 points up for grabs this weekend, so we have to take care of every aspect to allow Charles [Leclerc] and Carlos [Sainz] to exploit the full potential of the SF-24. The level is getting higher every race, and the smallest thing can turn a weekend around. The mechanics are all called upon to make this last effort before the end of the season”.
