“Winning the World Championship and doing it with Ferrari is my life's goal. How long am I willing to wait? As much time as it takes” admits Charles Leclerc in an interview granted to The print. The Monegasque, back on the top step of the podium on his home streets in Monaco, after a long period of fasting, wants to demonstrate that he can bring Ferrari back to success. Although mathematics is on Max Verstappen's side, it is still possible for Charles Leclerc to win a world title as early as 2024. Builders, or pilot as it is.
There haven't been many opportunities for Charles Leclerc since he joined Ferrari. The most striking was that of 2022. The Red team had a very competitive single-seater in the first part of the season and Leclerc found himself leading the world championship. However, things soon changed. Ferrari was unable to maintain the lead due to the reliability and growth of Red Bull. 2023 started with a big question mark given by the departure of Mattia Binotto and the restructuring of Ferrari. Initial expectations were much better than the actual conditions of the SF-23. Ferrari, in a year of Red Bull dominance, suffered mainly during the first part of the season, paying the price at the end of the year in the comparison with Mercedes who finished second in the constructors' championship.

Leclerc, the hunger doesn't stop: we're aiming for the world title also in 2024
Compared to 2023, this season has started much better. Ferrari has in fact doubled the points collected last year in the first nine races, obtaining 2 victories, in Australia and Monaco. With a world championship with teams so close together, the title is not an impossible feat, however it is also true that mistakes in these conditions are paid double. In Canada, Ferrari has in fact collected a very heavy double zero. Despite this, Charles Leclerc says he is rather optimistic and is not abandoning his dream of being able to lead Ferrari to the world title again this season.
“We have a chance among the manufacturers. And among the riders I will push until the end", says Leclerc interviewed by The print. "Winning the World Championship and doing it with Ferrari is my life's goal. How long am I willing to wait? As much time as it takes. This is the team that made me dream as a child and believed in me when I was young, I will do everything to make it happen as soon as possible" added Leclerc.
In Spain, this weekend Ferrari will have to find the right path to get back on track with Red Bull and Max Verstappen. For the occasion, the Maranello team decided to bring forward the second evolutionary step by bringing new cars to Barcelona updates on the SF-24.
