At the end of qualifications sprint in Miami Charles Leclerc closes the session in second position. Something exceptional for the Monegasque that he had completed only one lap in free practice of the American morning.
Leclerc satisfied with his qualifying in Miami: "I didn't lap much, but I found the feeling straight away"
In the post-qualifying interview, Charles mainly talked about how, having not participated in free practice, he had to immediately push hard. Seeking the limit was the objective, and having had the feeling from the start was very positive for the Ferrari driver: “I'm very happy with the result given the last qualifying sessions. It can be said that they were our weak point at the start of the season. Already in China I understood that something had changed, but the car wasn't performing well enough to demonstrate it. Obviously our weekend got off to a rocky start as I only completed one lap in the FP1. This led me to look for the limit immediately, and doing the first part of qualifying on used tires didn't help us. But luckily I found the feeling right away, and this allowed us to achieve this result."
Leclerc: “I'm improving race by race, but now we need to maintain this level”
Continuing in his interview, the #16 of the Red team pointed out how in F1 you always look at the last races. On this aspect, however, Leclerc is decisive improving, and preach consistency in performance"The hard work I'm doing to get the tires up to temperature has paid off. And this makes me really happy because in this sport we always talk about last races. When you get two good qualifications in a row, even if the rest didn't go perfectly before, people start talking about you. And I like this. But now we need to work on consistency to maintain the level we are at".
