A sprint qualification that is not easy for Carlos Sainz in Miami. The Spaniard, at the checkered flag, places himself in fifth position. What is surprising is the distance from his companion, i.e 3 and a half tenths, and above all having placed behind Ricciardo's VCARB.
Sainz disappointed and incredulous: “Different sensations from the tests. I wasn't able to build the lap"
Answering some questions after qualifying, Ferrari's #55 explained that he had had a change of feeling compared to free tests. This led him to make mistakes and not being able to put the ride together: “There was a strange change in feeling between practice and qualifying. Personally I heard a loss of grip that compromised my ride. With the team we will carefully review all sessions. When I put the soft on I had a good lap, but then I made a mistake in the last sector and ruined it. Without a doubt I'm not happy and I hope I can put things right tomorrow."
“Feelings for the Sprint? It will be an unknown for everyone"
The other questions focused mainly on the Sprint, asking what the Spaniard's sensations might be. Sainz, for his part, explained that no one has certain data in hand and, therefore, the Sprint, like the Miami qualifications, will be an unknown for everyone: “Feelings about the sprint? In practice it seemed like we had a good car, but then in qualifying everything changed, so I don't know how it can go. However, no one knows how it will go, because we have no data to compare."
The Rossa's son of art will not start far back on the grid, but if he wants to keep up with Leclerc he will have to get busy. The unpredictability behind the result of Saturday's sprint can reshuffle the cards and give us something different. And who knows, Sainz might be the protagonist.
