It was a season to forget for Nyck De Vries. The Dutch driver, after only ten races with AlphaTauri, was replaced by Daniel Ricciardo. The motivation given by Helmut Marko is linked to the poor results achieved by De Vries, with the zero points brought home which weighed too much on the final decision. For the Dutchman, however, there is still a possibility of seeing him in F1 this season.
Third Red Bull driver: Lawson unavailable, room for De Vries in Mexico?
The newspaper RacingNews365 launched the indiscretion. With the arrival of Ricciardo in Alpha Tauri, Lawson automatically became the third Red Bull driver. Lawson is involved in the Super Formula championship and will not be available to the Milton Keynes team during the weekend of the Mexican GP, Sergio Perez's home round. At Red Bull, however, there is a problem: when Verstappen and Perez will be on stage in Mexico, Lawson will not be able to fill the role of third driver due to commitments with Super Formula and, also considering Ricciardo's unavailability, Nyck De Vries should take over. Despite the dismissal, the Dutchman is still under contract with Red Bull who, barring any twists and turns, will have to turn to him for the GP which runs from 27 to 29 October.
The Dutchman enjoys the stoppage
Waiting to understand whether this news will be confirmed or not, In the meantime, De Vries is enjoying the break from the engines, remembering that - just like Latifi - he chose to dedicate himself to studio, as he himself declared: “In September I will start a new course at Harvard, based on Leadership. I will do it for the simple reason that I like this sector and above all because I have the time and interest in learning other things too".
