Interviewed by Sky Sport F1, Carlos Sainz comments on his Saturday of the weekend of Belgian Grand Prix 2023. Weekend characterized by new format of sprint shootout.
The disaster in the pits
Thus begins the interview with Carlos Sainz, author of a third place of sprint qualification shoot out, but who had a disastrous sprint race. Because of the pit stop on the first lap amongthe most total chaos, with many drivers returning and an infinite number of mechanics occupying the pit areas. With a consequent damage which he comments like this: “It was clear that the whole race was decided on this pit stop and it didn't go well for me. I lost three or four positions and they cost me the podium Today. But sprinting is like this: things don't always go the way you want, but we have to keep trying."

Carlos Sainz: “It seems like a very dangerous situation to me…”
He then continues Carlos Sainz on the fact that, in fact, a group had formed in the pits disastrous situation in pit lane, with everyone coming in and out. Mara Sangiorgio asks the young driver from Madrid if it was an avoidable situation for him. Also taking into account the fact that Carlos Sainz was one of those pilots who he wanted to wait a bit' starting to sprint with the intermediates when wet. “If everything was managed well in my opinion, too considering the past? You can [try to] see how you can find a solution to not have twenty cars in the pit lane to twenty-thirty mechanics per team there, with everyone jockeying for position. It seems like one to me very dangerous situation, and that one day something will happen. And yes, at that moment The conditions of the track they force us to make this stop to put the intermediates because Tires work like that."
