After partnering with Alfa Romeo just finished and the agreement with Audi for 2026, the Sauber is preparing as best as possible for the new challenge with the German company, drawing up a fine selection of drivers and main team.
Binotto in Audi? Impossible at the moment
Who topped the house of four rings' list of favorites was well known. Mattia binotto, in fact, according to what the English newspaper reports F1 Business Magazine, would visit the factory in Germany. Audi's desire to have an experienced man like the Swiss reflects the philosophy undertaken by the team, as well as in the drivers: the first name in the running is equally well-known, namely Sebastian Vettel. The landing of the former Ferrari team principal is at the moment very difficult.
Binotto's attack
Before making a decision, Binotto wanted to take a small "trip" to closely observe how people work and the air they breathe inside the newly created stable. And the statements were enough shocking. The trip to Germany did not go unnoticed and the journalists decided to interview the person concerned. His words were for nothing encouraging, as the main theme revolved around the work of the mechanics and staff. Some members have even been called gods clowns. Furthermore, the infrastructure has been retained poor quality compared to what is used to those in Classic Ferrari for sale. A final meeting with the top brass, who had offered a contract for well 20 million per season, confirmed the choice of the Swiss.
Nothing to be done for Audi
The use of these terms confirms how the team still is on the high seas at an organizational level and there is a lot to improve. In Ingolstadt it will therefore be necessary to remodel the list of possible candidates by deleting Mattia Binotto as first choice to move on to someone else who has similar characteristics.
