Fernando Alonso in the final laps at Australian Grand Prix he tried to defend sixth position with gritted teeth from George Russell, who ended up in the gravel in an attempt to get close to the Spaniard. Russell immediately pointed the finger at the Spaniard who was called by the stewards at the end of the race for dangerous driving. The investigation returned a bitter response to Alonso, who had to swallow a heavy penalty which made him climb up to eighth position in Australia. Stroll in P6 and Tsunoda in P7 move up one position.
Russell-Alonso, what happened in Australia
On the final lap of the Australian Grand Prix, Fernando Alonso and George Russell battled for sixth place. However, on the final lap, Russell suffered a violent accident following an unexpected maneuver by Alonso who was ahead of him. Although the two did not have contact, the stewards decided to investigate the incident, calling it an "alleged accident".
Footage from Alonso's car revealed that the Spaniard slowed more than normal as he approached the corner, followed by a couple of DRS zones. Telemetries confirmed that Fernando braked twice while was approaching the corner and that his speed was significantly slower than on the previous lap. Alonso explained that he had been struggling with technical problems on the AMR24 in the final laps, and that he had focused on managing those difficulties rather than defending Russell.

The FIA document
The reason that led the commissioners to penalize Fernando Alonso lies above all in the distance from which the Spaniard braked and downshifted, i.e. 100 meters before. However, the voluntariness in obstructing Russell was not assessed. Rather, the dangerousness of the maneuver carried out which led the Spaniard to a Drive Through penalty converted into a 20 second penalty and a whopping 3 points on your licence.
Here is an excerpt from communique published by the stewards, after having listened to both drivers.
“Car 63 was following car 14 with a delay of approximately 0,5 seconds as the cars approached Turn 6. Alonso explained to the stewards that he intended to approach Turn 6 differently. By lifting earlier and at a lower speed when cornering, to achieve a better exit. Russell explained to the stewards that, from his point of view, Alonso's maneuver was irregular. He caught him by surprise and made him close the distance unusually quickly and, with the resulting lower downforce at the top of the corner, he lost control and crashed at the exit of the corner.”
“The stewards felt they did not have sufficient information to establish whether Alonso's maneuver was intended to cause problems for Russell or whether, as he told the stewards, he was simply trying to get a better exit. In this case we believe that Alonso's choice to perform an unusual maneuver at this point is an aggravating circumstance rather than a simple mistake. The stewards therefore order a drive through penalty, which will be converted into 20 seconds added to the elapsed time of car 14, as well as three penalty points.”
