McLaren announces the extension of the multi-year contract of Andrea Stella, the team's TP. After a long experience at Ferrari, the Italian engineer arrives in Woking in 2022, taking the reins of a team in difficulty with the promise of bringing it back among the top teams. The Papaya team, under his leadership, achieved 18 podiums, 2 victories and 1 Sprint race.

The story between Andrea Stella , McLaren is destined to continue. The Woking team announced today that they had signed a contract multi-year renewal with its Team Principal.
The Italian has been at McLaren since 2015, when he followed Fernando Alonso as his race engineer. Since December 2022 he has been in charge, taking over from CEO Andreas Seidl.
Stella went through a difficult start to the season in 2023, but in just a few races he managed to get the team from behind to fight for podiums. Then, in 2024, the victories arrived, with the first successes of Lando Norris (in Miami) e Oscar piastri (in Hungary).
Commenting on his new contract, the TP born in 1971 from Orvieto declared: «It is a privilege to be part of McLaren and I am honored to continue in my role as Team Principal. We have made great progress in the last year and a half, but we still have a lot of work to do to consistently fight at the front of the grid, which represents an exciting challenge."

McLaren as second force on the grid
McLaren is second in the constructors' championship, reducing the gap with Red Bull by 42 points. Of this the CEO Zak Brown he is extremely happy about it, so much so that he often underlines the progress made by the papaya team.
