Pierre Gasly has renewed with Alpine: the Frenchman will continue his journey with the Enstone team. The announcement arrived today this morning via social media: Pierre Gasly will continue his adventure with Alpine, extending his contract for more than a year. The renewal of the French driver comes at a crucial moment for the team, which is preparing for the imminent era of the new regulations scheduled for 2026.
With Esteban Ocon leaving at the end of the season and the return of Flavio Briatore as executive consultant Alpine has therefore chosen to continue its path starting from Pierre Gasly. The relationship between the two French riders has never been excellent, and this year with the pressure of expiring contracts some sparks have arrived. Esteban Ocon's departure at the end of the season will leave a vacancy in the team, which, according to rumors, could be filled by Carlos Sainz. The Spaniard, currently at Ferrari, is looking for a new team ahead of next year, as Lewis Hamilton will take his place alongside Charles Leclerc.
Alpine announces the renewal of Pierre Gasly, the press release
The news of the renewal comes a few days after the return of Flavio Briatore in the team as an advisor, a sign of a possible renewal and strengthening of the team in view of future challenges. On social media, Alpine expressed satisfaction with the extension of Gasly's contract, declaring: “We are pleased to announce that Pierre will remain with us, putting pen to paper on a new multi-year contract.”
This instead the statement of the team: "Il BWT Alpine F1 Team is pleased to confirm that Pierre Gasly has committed to a long-term contract with the team. The deal, an extension of his current contract, will take Pierre through the 2025 season and beyond. The Frenchman is in his second season with the BWT Alpine F1 Team and, with 140 Formula 1 starts, is a driver with a wealth of experience to take the team to the next level in the long term. In his 32 starts with the team, Pierre accumulated 67 points and took home two silvers, including third place in the Sprint Race of the 2023 Belgian Grand Prix and a memorable third place in the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort. The team will announce Pierre's teammate for the 2025 season in due course.
The words of Pierre Gasly and Bruno Famin
Pierre Gasly commented on the renewal like this: “I feel at home in this great team. I enjoy being an integral part of the Formula 1 project and the broader vision of Alpine Cars. I have been here officially for over 18 months and it has always been my intention to build a long-term project with the team. Even though it has been a challenging season on the track, I remain faithful to the project and I'm not going anywhere. I am happy with the changes made, the hard work and the direction the team is taking. The personnel and resources of this team have great potential. I'm excited about what's to come in the future and right now I'm focused on the day-to-day details we're putting in place to improve our performance."
These are the words of Team Principal Bruno Famin: “Pierre's contract extension with the team is very welcome. He is a driver with great experience in Formula 1 and continues to show enormous potential on the track. For Alpine, as a brand, he is a great ambassador and we look forward to continuing our collaboration. While this is important for our future, we must keep our eyes on what is to come and that is to focus on improving our current package. We have big ambitions for the current season and we will work tirelessly to achieve them. We will take our time deciding on Pierre's teammate and we are excited about the options we have on the table."

An uphill season
Pierre Gasly's season didn't start in the best way. The car really struggled a lot, staying out of the points. However, in the last three races the trend seems to have reversed. Despite an up-and-down 2024 season, Alpine surprised everyone in Barcelona, replicating the Montreal result and placing Gasly in ninth place and Ocon in tenth. This result allowed the team to overtake Haas in the Constructors' standings, moving into seventh position. After three consecutive finishes in the points, Gasly is aiming for poker in Austria, galvanized by the team's good performance in the Spanish Grand Prix.
With Gasly's confirmation, Alpine hopes to stabilize its position and confidently face the next seasons in which it will also have to understand whether to abandon the role of Power Unit producers by becoming a customer team.
