A crackling start, which diminished more and more over the course of the season. This is the year ofAston Martin which, after the first races which really suggested that for Fernando Sooner or later the coveted thirty-three would have arrived, finds himself today facing another reality, with a victory which seems to be really far away.
Alonso: from podiums to top ten
The six podiums conquered during this season speak clearly: Aston Martin – in particular with Fernando Alonso – For the first few races it was the second force on the track. The AMR23 went very well with the excellent tire management of the Spaniard who, despite not shining in qualifying, always managed to have his say in the race - positioning himself behind the two Red Bulls. Precisely for this reason, the more the races went by, the more it was thought that sooner then Aston, specifically Alonso, could manage to gain the satisfaction of climbing to the top step of the podium. An objective that, however, to date – especially after the enormous performance decline gained after the Canadian GP – it seems to be really far away"In Munich – admitted Fernando Alonso – but also in Canada, we came very close. I don't think there's a real chance of getting win number 33 this year".
Alonso: “I don't know how long it will take, but we will win again”
Although the dream seems to have ended at least for this year - with both Mercedes and Ferrari, and even McLaren for some races going better than Aston - Alonso strongly believes in the Silverstone team's project and knows that victory will come sooner or later"The team has set the goal of victory and we will try every weekend, even if it is impossible. Everything I do in life I do because I think I will win: if I go to play tennis or football and I think that my opponent is better than me or that he will beat me, I don't even go. In motorsport it's the same, but I believe in this team and I think that opportunities will come despite Red Bull being much ahead: there will always be a race in which this could happen. I don't know how long it will take us to win, but I believe that in the future we will".
