No one, to date, actually realizes how much the career of Fernando Alonso has been long-lived. When he made his debut in F1 with the Minardi in 2001, in Italy the currency was the lira. To give another example, Youtube was first launched in 2005, while Instagram even in 2010. The old lion, even after 22 years of career, doesn't seem like it wanting to stop. The palmares of the current season is clear: at the age of 42 years, the Spaniard has already obtained 6 podiums with her Aston Martin, reaching i 104 overall since he was in the top category. However, we cannot forget the epic battles with Schumacher, which led him to win well 2 world titles with her Renault.
Alonso on Hamilton: “Helped by the regulation change”
The only thing Fernando might regret about his course in F1 it is his ability to choose the next team. In fact, after the years at Renault and those alongside Hamilton in McLaren, the Oviedo native never again had a car capable of fighting for the world title. Choices that for example Lewis Hamilton has completely nailed it. This is precisely what Alonso talks about in an interview with The Telegraph, where he considers British the result of a regulatory change: “It has always been said that there are drivers capable of building a winning team, but when Lewis arrived at Mercedes in 2013, he built nothing. It was just a rule change for the following season and it all started from there.".
The situation does not change for Max
The same discussion was undertaken to talk about the new generational phenomenon, Max Verstappen. The same plot was also used for Dutch, pointing out that from 2022, with the change in regulation, SuperMax has them all won: “In Max's case, when he moved from Toro Rosso to Red Bull, Hamilton won everything. He didn't build a winning team. In 2021 there was a very close fight between the two and now with the regulatory change he is winning all the races. So I don't know what is meant by building a team, because we are talking about a sport made up of technical decisions, regulations or inspirations, which have greater weight than data, information or the driving styles of the riders. You have to be in the right place at the right time.".
The Spaniard's speech, therefore, would like to imply that he, in his best years, managed to create a team around him. While Hamilton and Verstappen were only lucky in finding each other in the right place at the right time.
