In recent days, Mercedes and Ferrari have announced the first two names chosen to represent the team in the F1 Academy for the 2024 season. They are Maya Weug and Dorian Pin who take part, respectively, in the driver academy of the Maranello teams and the Brackley team.
Ferrari chooses Maya Weug, born in 2004
It is precisely Maya Weug who wears the colors of Maranello. She was born in Spain in 2004, with dual Dutch and Belgian nationality, she is the first girl to be admitted into the Ferrari Driver Academy.
The 2024 season has not yet started and Maya has chosen to write a small, but large, piece of history. She has been in the academy for three years already, following her victory in the “Girls on Track – Rising Stars” competition. Although the colors of the jersey and those of the car are similar, Maya will race in the F1 Academy with the Prema team, one of the 5 teams on the grid.
I'm really excited to start racing this season. I am sure that working with the esteemed Prema team will be an interesting experience. It is a great honor for me to continue representing Ferrari this year, especially on such an interesting platform as the F1 Academy. Now I am preparing hard with the Ferrari Driver Academy and Prema, with the aim of being a protagonist this season.

Doriane Pin will wear the colors of the Brackely team
With her entry, Doriane Pin, is the second girl to join the Mercedes team. With Luna Fluxá, they will run with Prema.
