The Mercedes Team Principal, Toto wolff, reiterated and confirmed the days of test on the track planned for Andrea Kimi Antonelli with the Mercedes F1. The debut for the pilot Mercedes Academy is scheduled on 16 and the 17 April on the Red Bull Ring circuit, where Antonelli will have the single-seater at his disposal W11 of 2021.
"The goal of these tests is to allow Andrea to achieve a good feeling behind the wheel of an F1 single-seater. We want you to feel good about yourself. Also for this reason we decided to let him take his first steps with the W12 of 2021, and then subsequently moved on to the W13 ".
“Kimi Antonelli's program driving a Mercedes F1 car it has been planned for some time. We haven't brought many changes, but in the last few weeks we have decided to add more test days. What you will see in the coming months was planned several months ago, and is a program launched independently of his presence in Formula 1 next season."
“The goal of these tests is to allow Andrea to achieve a good feeling behind the wheel of an F1 single-seater and also for this reason we decided to let him take his first steps with the Mercedes W12. We will then progressively move on to W13".
“Kimi Antonelli has been with us for a long time and we are eager to see what he will be able to do in a Mercedes F1. We got to see how competitive it was Ollie Bearman at the weekend in Jeddah, despite missing free practice and the specific difficulties of the track he did very well, so we can believe that Kimi would have done very well too."
