The French Formula 1 team is facing various problems and not only those present on the grid, where the single-seater seems to have actually worsened compared to the previous year. The problems seem to also extend to the economic level, which is why the team Alpine would be close to sale.
Alpine, sale and conditions: PU Renault
For Motorsport.com, the crisis faced by the team of Renault F1 group it would be the cause of a possible sale of the Enstone stable. The condition present within the agreement is to leave the PU Renault-branded at least until 2029.
As we have seen in the first 4 races of the 2024 championship, the Alpine team is facing several problems on the track and the main cause is not the drivers: Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly. It therefore seems clear that the objectives set after the 2022 season have not been achieved. After reaching 4th position in the constructors, they hoped for a better 2023, but with poor results as well as the current season which had just begun. Alpine had promised several podiums to both drivers and fans, but to date it shares the last position together with Williams and Sauber with zero points to its name.
Not even the directional change of Otmar Saffron – former team principal – and Laurent Red – former CEO – was beneficial. With different managers and technical leaders, the problems are however still present.
Renault's negotiations
If the team-owner Renault decides to sell the Enstone stable to the market, the negotiations could reveal more than one interested buyer. Again according to Motorsport.com rumors collected in Suzuka, the necessary condition for sale is the maintenance of PU produced in Viry-Châtillon.
Again according to what the same rumors report, the PU Renault is expected to be maintained until at least 2029, in order to ensure a future for the group of engineers who have already worked on the project which will debut in 2026.
A fairly heavy condition to digest for those who want to acquire the team in order to be able to work on it from scratch right away, limiting the purchase demand for the team itself.
