F1 wants confirmation after the excellent results of the 2022 season, that of the introduction of the new regulation which has overturned some hierarchies. The 2023 season is ambitious, both in terms of the number of races in calendar, Between Sprint and only for the novelty presented by some locations, such as Las Vegas or the return of others, such as Qatar. An ambition that manifests itself in the presence of roockies – no less than 3, grappling with their debut in F1, in a sort of generational change.
Like every year, teams and riders must register to take part in the championship. Paperwork is a formality, but interesting details and information are often hidden in these documents. The official F1 entry list for the 2023 season has been released by the FIA, and confirmed the numbers that will be used by next year's three rookie drivers, ie Oscar piastri who will run with the number 81, Logan sargeant, that will have instead the 2 e Nyck de Vries number 21. However, there is a detail in the entry list that took everyone a bit by surprise and that doesn't concern the drivers but the 2 teams that orbit the Red Bull universe.
Red Bull, there is a comeback
Rumors of Honda's return in 2026 find their first confirmation in this list. In 2022 Red Bull and AlphaTauri took to the track with Red Bull Power Trains as a motorist. Red Bull has set up its own engine factory in Milton Keynes and seemed intent on growing on its own after Honda's departure in 2021. However, the failure of the partnership with Porsche for 2026 has reopened the game with the Japanese brand than in 2023 will work alongside RBPT in the production of engines for both Red Bull and AlphaTauri.
Haas with new sponsor
Haas in 2022 found itself in a really difficult situation. It's almost strange to think that that same team, on the streets, ended the season in eighth place, even obtaining a pole position. Let's go back though. At the beginning of March the American team, due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, had to terminate the sponsorship relationship with the giant Uralkali also ending the contract of Nikita Mazepin, paying driver who arrived in 2021 thanks to the support of his father and the Russian company that had revived the team's fortunes. A complicated situation with many knots to unravel, the first being finding a driver to work alongside Mick Schumacher.
With the arrival of Magnussen and the first results – a dream 5th place in Bahrain – the second step was find a sponsor. Meanwhile, a battle, a tug of war with complex implications with Uralkali which was demanding from Haas the millions already paid for 2022, a sum that the team withheld, strongly opposing it, also asking for compensation for damage to its reputation and image . On the legal front, the fight with the Mazepins continues but in the meantime the team has found a title sponsor to rely on and for 2023 and will take to the track under the name of "MoneyGram Haas Team".
