An open construction site. At Ferrari there is still a need to work and figure out which path to take to start a new cycle – the first of the Vasseur era, possibly a successful one. Le resignation by Head of Vehicle Concept David Sanchez caused quite a stir in Maranello, but not quite unexpected.
The role of Vasseur
After ten years, therefore, a very important chapter closes for the French engineer, who has always been very close to Mattia binotto. The question that many are asking in fact is linked to how much of Frederic Vasseur is behind these resignations. The answer is very simple: zero. Based on what filters in fact, the only change that Vasseur has made to the team concerns the strategy side, with the farewell of Wheel and the arrival of Ravin Jain, the young Indian engineer who arrived in Maranello in 2016. Sanchez is leaving the team certainly not in the best time, considering that the season has just begun and it certainly wasn't there for the Reds Departure time that everyone expected.
The choice of substitute
It will be very interesting to understand how Ferrari will go about looking for a replacement. The choice will certainly fall on some internal member. At the moment, even if we are only at the beginning, we are talking about Diego Round, head of development, and Fabio Montecchi, engineer responsible for the chassis. For those who were to replace Sanchez, it will not be an easy task considering that the French is obviously one of the technicians who contributed the most to the design of the 2022 and 2023 single-seater. However, there shouldn't be huge changes on the updates side, considering that we are talking about programming that the team has already organized before the start of the season. In fact, the first components could already debut in Jeddah next week.

A phase of change has just begun at Ferrari which, in a sport like Formula 1, only time will tell if it was right or not. All that remains is to wait, having however the certainty that in Maranello, as reported on their social posts, they will always start again: "United".
