After the domino effect of the drivers, which arose in July with the retirement of Sebastian Vettel, Ferrari opened the ball with the one linked to the team principals. In fact, yesterday, combined with Monday evening, they registered four changes at the top in the Formula 1 stables.
It all started on Monday
But let's go in order. It all starts on Monday evening, in which Williams announced (somewhat surprisingly) that Jost capito he resigned and will no longer be CEO of the Grove team. The domino effect by exception, however, started from a stable: the Ferrari. In fact, with the resignation of Mattia Binotto, the Reds went looking for a new team principal in view of the new season. Choice that fell on Frederic Vasseur that he therefore greeted Alfa Romeo. Thus the long journey of the French engineer with the Sauber team is interrupted, with the precision of six years.
The change of Ferrari and Alfa
As soon as the announcement arrived in Maranello, the domino effect started. With the official status of Vasseur in Ferrari, many were wondering who made the choice of the Sauber group and how much it affected the situation linked to Audi which will enter into Formula 1 in 2026. In this regard, the news of Andreas Seidl's arrival as team principal had already spread in the morning. News confirmed, in part, a few hours later. Seidl in fact leaves McLaren and will open a new cycle in Alfa as CEO of Sauber (therefore focusing on 2026). However, there is a peculiarity that concerns its role. The German engineer was in fact appointed CEO of the Sauber group and not team principal, even if it is not excluded that he could fill that role on an interim basis for now.
McLaren's choice
The last, albeit great, announcement of the day comes, inevitably, from the McLaren house. There Woking stables, following Seidl's farewell, has decided to promote as team principal the now former Racing Director Andrea Stella. Great news for the Italian engineer who, arriving at McLaren in 2014, reaches one of the top positions of the team that he will have as a driver duo Lando Norris and the rookie, but super promising, Oscar piastri.
It's almost time to close the circle
After a very hectic morning, all the knots have come home to roost, except at home Williams. The first team to announce the farewell of its team principal will be the last team to formalize who will replace Jost Capito. Lots of changes, lots of fun. It's still a few months away, but get ready: it's going to be a great Formula 1 season.
